Our Ponca City Refinery , in Ponca City, Oklahoma, processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oils. Most of the crude oil processed is received by pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of increased volumes of locally produced advantaged crude oil by pipeline and truck.
A *technical internship with Phillips 66 Ponca City Refinery * will allow you opportunities to make contributions that support our overall Refining organization.
As a Rotating Equipment Intern you will get to work closely with experienced professionals while learning how to repair and maintain rotating equipment while effectively working through all of the safety, health, environmental, maintenance and operational practices and procedures.
Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain Refinery compressors, pumps, fans and related mechanical equipment
Develop a strong sense of health, safety, and environmental hazards
Create work authorization permits
Witness energy isolation (e.g. Lock, Tag & Try)
Provide inspection, testing, and documentation of safety systems to meet OSHA regulations
Pre-startup safety reviews and new project technical reviews
Requirements for a Phillips 66 Internship:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Must be 18 years of age or older
Maintain a valid driver's license
Pursuing an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Natural Gas Compression, Industrial Mechanical Technologies or similar mechanical technical program
Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate program
Available to intern for a minimum of ten continuous weeks
Graduation date of Summer 2023 or later
Must be willing and able, with or without accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
Lift up to 50 pounds
Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos
Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines
Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection)
Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly
Work outside in harsh weather conditions
Must be able to qualify for a Transportation Workers' Identification Credential (TWIC) by start date. Information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Previous internship or co-op participant in related industry
Previous internship with Phillips 66
