If you want work experience that really counts, consider a placement with Phillips 66. We are now looking for students to join us for one-year industrial placements, starting in summer 2023 at our London office. As an undergraduate placement student with Phillips 66, your work will play a key role in helping us make the decisions that maximise our value for employees, shareholders and customers; assess the health of our business; and drive improved performance.

The placement scheme is our starting point to identify and cultivate talented, passionate people and build a workforce that can propel us and more importantly you into an extraordinary future when you graduate

If successful, your time will be spent gaining valuable business experience working in area of Finance , Marketing, Corporate Staffs or Commercial , which you can specify on your application.

Placement Student Positions for 2023

Roles available in Finance include:

  • Financial Analyst: Primarily supporting the trading and supply operations of our European crude oil and refined products business in a fast paced and dynamic environment, involving significant interaction with various groups including Treasury, Trading, Operations, Marketing and Finance Management.

Roles available in Marketing include:

  • Sales Support Coordinator: As part of a team of ten providing day-to-day customer support, you will gain exposure to all aspects of UK Marketing including customer relationship management, supply and logistics, supply contracts and pricing mechanisms.

  • Brand Analyst: Provide qualitative and quantitative data analysis of the UK Retail business, including our company-owned JET petrol filling stations, and communicate findings and trends in service of brand marketing and retail business activity. Drive value creation through data-driven brand marketing solutions utilising consumer and customer segmentation, benchmarking, external market data and internal data.

Roles available in Corporate Staffs include:

  • Contracts Analyst: Help toco-ordinate and maintain the trading agreements which support the buying and selling of physical crude oil, feedstocks, refined products and renewables commodities. Provide key support to Trading and Operations, plus interaction with other functions such as Legal, Treasury, Insurance, Finance, Marine, and Tax departments for contractual concurrence.

Roles available in Commercial include:

  • Renewable Fuels Analyst: Working as part of the Commercial Renewables team, the role will predominantly provide systems support to our sustainability and compliance, origination and operations functions as we continue to grow our low carbon fuels offering.

What we are looking for in a placement student:

  • The legal right to live and work in the UK on permanent basis without restrictions, or meet the relevant criteria for employer sponsorship under the UK points-based immigration system

  • A student who will have completed at least their 2nd year of a relevant degree and are on course to achieve a minimum grade of 2:1

  • You have the option to take part in a placement year as part of your degree course

  • Competent IT knowledge and experience using Microsoft applications

  • A pro-active self-starter, with confidence to work on your own initiative

  • Strong interpersonal communicator, with both written and oral presentation skills

  • Someone who is highly motivated with a drive and energy to lead and influence change

  • A good team player who can work with and influence others with a real flair for problem-solving

  • Someone who can prioritise effectively and manage conflicting priorities

  • Most importantly, you have a passion and excitement for the energy industry

Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.

Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK's growing secondary airports using owned and shared refuelling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refuelling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
